Afternoon tea anyone?
If you have been paying attention to the news lately (there is a recession on in case you didnt know!) then you would have been alerted to the fact that the G20 summit is taking place this week. Now, don’t worry, we’re a bag company, we’re not about to get all political and preachy but with the prospects of protests and delays in and around London we cant really let it slip by un-noticed.
In the office we are pretty excited about seeing the new president up close and personal (well, via the TV – sadly he cant make it in to the office!) seeing as it will be his first time over here since his inauguration. And of course as a British business we are more than interested to see what their brainstorming session may throw up to help the economy. One thing that did make us smile though was the reports that the G20 protestors were holding a tea party outside the Bank of England today, with cake and everything! I wonder if Jamie Oliver will be doing the same thing for the world leaders tomorrow…?

Hello Dolly!
Instead of spending the usual Friday evening in the office local, we spent last Friday taking in some education and culture at the V&A. We went along to a talk by some rather esteemed fellows on fashion & the internet. Guest speakers included Dolly Jones from Vogue.com, Ruth Marshall-Johnson from trend forecaster WGSN and Jana from the UK’s first hijab style blog. Side stepping the fact that we had to run all the way from the tube station to bagsy a decent seat; it was a really fascinating evening…
The main discussion was the surge in popularity of online editorial and fashion blogs and what that could mean for print publications and journalists. The speakers were very engaging and it was very insightful to hear first-hand from people whose careers are based on the internet. And, we also developed a little girl-crush on Dolly with her confident standpoint and gorgeous shoes - she is so en Vogue…!

Money for nothing…?!
While it seems to be every day now that a new gadget is being released or announced, one that caught our eye today is the news that Apple are launching a new iPod shuffle…and it can talk! It comes in black and silver, has 4GB capacity and costs a reasonable £59. But is it worth it?

Sweet charity
Here at knomo we like to think we are quite generous folks…we like to help the less fortunate; whether it is giving a £1 to a
homeless man for a cup of tea or giving away some products for charity. So when the lovely chaps at The Prince’s Trust asked us to donate a laptop sleeve for their super-retro tombola at their Spring Ball at the Hurlingham club in London last week , we had no hesitations!

Sgt Peppers Lonely Hearts club band…
It’s been excessively girly in the office lately, what with all the fashion weeks going on etc, so we thought we would report on something a little less effeminate (but no less fun!). Check the coolest, most addictive game to spice up your console since Street Fighter or Sims; Rock Band is the ultimate game for living out your Rock Star fantasies…
Whether you fancy yourself as the next Jon Bon Jovi or Alice Cooper, there is something for every taste, and with Special Edition versions of the game coming out regularly (this week sees the AC/DC adaptation) you are never short of a new song to tackle.
Available on the Wii, PS3 or XBOX 360, the makers of Rock Band are now offering a complete bundle of microphone, guitar and drum kit, with the game itself. Our current favourites include the Chili’s ‘Dani California’ and the classic Jet song ‘Are you gonna be my girl’.

In fact, word on the street is that a Beatles-inspired version of Rock Band is coming out later in the year which promises to take a thorough look at their musical career and the instruments available to play on will be modelled after the ones used by the fab four (fingers crossed for some kind of sitar). It’s just a shame we will have to wait until September to get our hands on a copy. We will have to make do with our ‘ancient’ ABBA singstar until then, or you know, pick up a real instrument…

Ethereal art in Easter-egg shaped goodies…
Easter might seem like a wee while off yet, but on a recent visit to one of our stockists, the gorgeous Fortnum and Mason, knomo spotted some fab specially commissioned Robert Ryan Easter eggs.

Artist and creator of all things beautiful and fairy-tale like, Ryan has used his paper-cutting techniques to package the yummiest of chocolate eggs. As massive fans of Ryan’s delicate designs (Ryan has done some brilliant stuff recently for Vogue, Amelia’s magazine, Liberty and with Tatty Devine), we’ll be popping down to Fortnum’s again to see Ryan on March 24th,when he’ll be signing books and encouraging us all to commit chocolaty-crimes. Ooh, go on then, let the naughtiness commence!
