knomo’s in-house design team have been busy behind the scenes developing our ALL NEW Men’s collection of laptop-bags, messengers & sleeves – and now we’re proud to  introduce Balham.

Boasting six styles; designed from heavy-duty cotton twill trimmed with raw-edge leather & tarnished metallic hardware. The new saddle leather bridge closures work to eliminate Velcro or snap locks. The designs are modest and simple, and have been tested to function perfectly.

Known for blending style and function, each knomo design has been perfected to hold your day-to-day belongings within dedicated compartments; tons of internal and external zip pockets offer added security for your belongings, and the dedicated laptop section incorporates shock-proof protection for your technology.

Pictured here we have PADSTOW; A slim line briefcase with detachable strap, which can be carried by the grab handle or across the body.  Catering for a 13” laptop, and can also hold an A4 pad and other essentials – perfect for meetings!

Our three founders originally came from South Africa. Living and working in London they left their day jobs to start knomo, and it has been built up to the brand you see today.

We have embarked on an exciting project, very close to the knomo team.  Having partnered with Core (our South African distributor) and iSchool Africa, in the sponsorship of iPads for underprivileged schools in South Africa; helping the children engage in their education and improve the quality of their learning.

The first school to be supported by the scheme was Veluka school, in Randburg.  Now the scheme has branched further to the second school; Vukanibantu in Port Elizabeth – the home town of one of our founders!

The highly enthusiastic and dedicated teaching staff here are very much looking forward to using this new technology in growing and developing the children in the school.

We can’t wait to receive more updates from both schools – and will be sharing the journey along with you!

Any of our Facebook friends or Twitter followers may have already seen that Knomo HQ had fun raising money for Red Nose Day on Friday – we hope you did too! As well as donating 10% from every knomo sale on the day to Comic Relief, we also did “something funny for money”!

Our Social Media and Pop-up Shop teams plotted fun pranks to play on the rest of the office – all in the name of charity, of course! In the mix were fake cash prize scratch cards, fake biscuits, electric shock pens & whoopee cushions! We did our best to snap the action…

We also spent the day at work in the comfort of our PJ’s – for a donation! This was particularly amusing during important Management meetings…

There was also a bidding war to get our Finance Director to head out of the office to her coffee meeting – in her Onesie!

knomo was born in London, and our HQ and Shop are still situated in the heart of the Capital.  But our three founders, who gave up their day jobs to create and design bags that enhanced the lives of others, hail from South Africa. We are therefore very excited to be partnering with Core (our South African distributor), and iSchool Africa to sponsor iPads in an underprivileged school in Gauteng.

Veluka school is based in Randburg.  With the classrooms initially designed for Sunday school lessons, resources are very limited.  Seeing and experiencing the educational crisis in South Africa, a group of very inspiring individuals decided to step up and make a difference; using the venue as an open full-time school for the children of local townships and orphanages, now with a total of 70 students. Veluka focuses on teaching key skills such as Maths, Reading and Writing – helping special needs children in particular, and with the aim of entering them into a trade college and eventually to enter into society.

This is where the iPad’s come in!  With Textbooks in very short supply, this new technology is proving to be a real game changer, helping the children to engage independently in their learning.  As well as building confidence, specially created numeracy and literacy Apps mean that the quality of learning has improved dramatically.

knomo has also provided Folio cases to protect the iPads, and ensure that they can be used for many years to come. We will also starting to work with other education charities in South Africa.
