Our three founders originally came from South Africa. Living and working in London they left their day jobs to start knomo, and it has been built up to the brand you see today.

We have embarked on an exciting project, very close to the knomo team.  Having partnered with Core (our South African distributor) and iSchool Africa, in the sponsorship of iPads for underprivileged schools in South Africa; helping the children engage in their education and improve the quality of their learning.

The first school to be supported by the scheme was Veluka school, in Randburg.  Now the scheme has branched further to the second school; Vukanibantu in Port Elizabeth – the home town of one of our founders!

The highly enthusiastic and dedicated teaching staff here are very much looking forward to using this new technology in growing and developing the children in the school.

We can’t wait to receive more updates from both schools – and will be sharing the journey along with you!

“Hi guys and girls at knomo,
i went to shenzhen, china last year and i had to stop in chongqing. Because i had to wait 8 hours in the airport and i had nothing to do in the middle of the night (my leg really hurt then, so i could not walk so good at that time, and there was no computer or anything there)
So i went to sleep on the chairs on my (stuffed) knomo lincoln 15 inch. My little knomo has been a good friend to me since i got him and now i had to use my little friend as a pillow too. I have to say, it was the most comfortable i had then, and i slept really well on it!

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you will not have escaped the fact that it was the annual Orange British Academy Film Awards yesterday. Yes, Britain’s answer to the Oscars was covered from all angles, from the red carpet fashion to the production behind the films themselves, no stone was left unturned! As the premier night on the British Film calendar, the BAFTA Film Awards was a star-studded night filled with beautiful dresses, prestigious awards and perfectly-groomed celebrities!

Never one to miss out on the action, knomo have provided gifts for the glamorous nominees as part of the official Nominee Gift Bag for the fourth year running, and as part of the collaboration have teamed up with BAFTA to provide a Nominee Gift Bag for competition in Harrods, Knightsbridge, along with a LIMITED EDITION Helena Laptop Handbag in Nutmeg Croc.

Last week (25^th – 31^st October) marked the 14th Energy Saving Week, created to educate the nation in ways to save energy for the good of the environment, while also saving money! With an energy saving week pack available to help the masses understand what a difference we can all make in your community or at work, many different events were happening all over the UK to raise awareness for how important the plight of the planet is.

Here at knomo HQ we are always aware of saving energy (and money!) so we thought we would put together knomo’s top tips for reducing energy waste… 

 

1.  We are based in central London so we make the most of the transport system and leave our cars at home, but if you drive to work, modern cars use virtually no extra fuel when they are re-started, so make sure to turn off the engine if you’re going to be stationary for more than a minute or two.
2. Our office building is pretty old but when we re-developed it we made sure to insulate it wherever possible. Insulate your loft and your walls well or you wil be losing valuable heat!
3. We all love 4pm tea-time to get us through til the end of the day, but only boil as much water as you need when making a brew. (Have as many biscuits as you like though!)
4. Close your curtains at dusk to stop heat escaping through the windows and check for draughts around windows and doors. Brrrrr!
5. One that most people forget, even though its the easiest to do – always turn off the lights when you leave a room.
6. When purchasing new appliances, always look for the Energy Saving Trust Recommended logo.
7. Match the size of the cooking ring to the size of the saucepan to avoid heating air!
8. Run your washing machine or dishwasher with full loads.
9. Even though it may be the office heating bill, the environment will appreciate you turning your central heating down by one degree and it could cut your heating bills by up to 10 per cent.
10. With so many printers, scanners, computers etc in most offices, we all need to be vigilant about wasting energy. Where possible, turn off appliances completely, use the power switch on the appliance itself or turn it off at the plug.
